Editorial only. Not regulated advice.
mifinance.xyz is an educational reference. The break-even calculator is a managerial-accounting tool, not a substitute for engaged professional advice on your specific business.
1. No accounting, tax, or financial advice
The break-even model presented on this site is a simplified contribution-margin calculation. It assumes a single product, constant variable cost per unit, constant price per unit, and a tidy partition between fixed and variable costs. Real businesses violate these assumptions in routine, important ways. Nothing on mifinance.xyz constitutes advice within the meaning of the Ohio Accountancy Board, the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct, the SEC Investment Advisers Act, or comparable foreign regimes. For a specific decision — pricing, financing, expansion, exit — engage a CPA or licensed advisor with an engagement letter.
2. Limitations of the model
Real cost behaviour is rarely perfectly fixed or perfectly variable. Step-fixed costs (rent escalators when you cross a square-footage tier; a second supervisor when shifts double) move discretely, not smoothly. Curvilinear variable costs (volume discounts on raw materials; learning-curve effects on labour) deviate from the linear assumption. Sales mix shifts the blended contribution margin even when individual unit economics hold steady. The single-product break-even number is a starting point, not a forecast.
3. No guarantee of accuracy
Although the calculator has been reviewed by a CPA and tested against worked examples in standard managerial-accounting texts, software contains bugs and editorial content contains errors. If you spot a discrepancy, write to the editorial desk via the contact page; calculation discrepancies are prioritised and resolved within five business days where reproducible.
